Esta es la canción que tengo metida en mi cabeza desde que el sábado, en vez de estudiar, me dediqué a ver Beyond The Sea. La película, dirigida, protagonizada y producida por Kevin Spacey, cuenta la vida del cantante Bobby Darin, desde su infancia, hasta llegar a sus grandes éxitos que le convertirían en ídolo adolescente de los años 50 y 60 conquistando numerosos números uno que han quedado para el recuerdo, como Beyond the See o Mack The Knife. Bobby Darin también protagonizó algunas películas e incluso estuvo nominado a un Oscar.
Tras dejar durante un tiempo el mundo de la música, se dedicó a la política apoyando en 1968 la campaña electoral de su amigo Robert Kennedy. El asesinato de Robert marcó a Bobby y éste publicó dos álbumes protesta de música folk, regalándonos canciones como Simple Song Of Freedom, que pertenece a la etapa de canción-protesta del crooner (etapa que comenzó después del asesinato de Martin Luther King y de Bob Kennedy, en cuya campaña de elección participó). Escrita en 1.969, es una canción contra la Guerra de Vietnam y a favor de la paz.
